OUR STORY
The establishment of the ‘Nature Conservation Society’ dates back to 2008 when a group of like-minded, young nature enthusiasts from diverse professions came together to form a supremely motivated team possessing a vision and desire to contribute their bit towards conservation of nature.
At the inception, the primary focus was ‘Human-wildlife conflict mitigation’ and ‘Wildlife rescue – rehabilitation activities’ were routine. While delving into the issues, it was realized that they were much more complicated and deep rooted than it was initially anticipated. The fundamental cause was found to be human intrusion into natural ecosystems and destruction of wildlife habitats. Consequently, with few choices of basic life resources, wild animals would frequently stray in human settlements. Thus, the primary work focus was shifted from superficial measures like rescue-rehabilitation to more specific measures like ‘Restoration of Natural Habitats’ and ‘Creating Public Awareness’.
The initiatives like continuous environmental education and public awareness were successful in infiltrating the notion and vitality of nature conservation to general public. Hence the enhanced civic participation uplifted the mission to the next level.
Habitat development and conservation was the next challenging goal for team NACONS. Therefore, the projects for restoration of decreasing green cover with indigenous tree plantations and afforestation in urban and rural areas were undertaken and completed successfully.
Persistent efforts are also being made for restoration of non-forest habitats like grasslands, wetlands, river etc., through public awareness. The team works on urban health and environmental issues such as inappropriate solid waste management, by educating not only urban and rural population but also government, semi-government and autonomous institutions.
The team has also been involved in some Environmental Research Work projects related primarily to the wildlife.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
